Nasce ad Aosta nel 1982. Terminati gli studi presso l’Istituto di Stato per la Cinematografia “Roberto Rossellini” di Roma, dal 2004 lavora come produttore, direttore della fotografia e regista in Italia e all’estero.
I suoi film sono stati selezionati e proiettati in oltre 250 festival in 38 paesi del mondo ricevendo complessivamente oltre 50 tra premi e riconoscimenti. Nel 2013 produce e dirige il cortometraggio documentario “America” che viene selezionato in 84 festival in 16 paesi del mondo, tra i quali il Clermont-Ferrand Int. Short Film Festival (unico italiano nel Concorso Internazionale), e conquistando 23 premi tra cui il Premio “Michelangelo Antonioni” al Bif&st – Bari International Film Festival.
Il 2017 è l’anno del lungometraggio documentario “Sagre Balere” che, dopo l’anteprima mondiale a Visions du Réel – Festival international de Cinéma de Nyon, ottiene 33 selezioni in 11 paesi del mondo e 7 riconoscimenti tra i quali il Premio “Italia Doc” per il miglior documentario italiano al 35° Bellaria Film Festival. Sempre nello stesso anno scrive e dirige il cortometraggio “Il tratto” che viene proiettato in 20 paesi del mondo e in oltre 60 festival, tra i quali si segnala la doppia partecipazione, nel 2017 per il premio MigrArti e nel 2018 per il premio I love GAI, alla Mostra Internazionale d’Arte Cinematografica di Venezia e al TIFF Kids International Film Festival di Toronto.
Il film, attualmente ancora in distribuzione, ha ricevuto 15 premi tra i quali Premio del Pubblico (Italian Film Festival USA negli Stati Uniti d’America e Planos Film Fest in Portogallo), Premio “I have right’s” al Rolan Int. Film Festival For Children and Youth in Armenia e Miglior Sceneggiatura all’Olympia Int. Film Festival for Children and Young People in Grecia.
Per la televisione ha realizzato documentari per la RAI Radiotelevisione Italiana, la RSI Radiotelevisione svizzera italiana e, come direttore della fotografia, per Sky.
Spesso produttore o coproduttore delle proprie opere, Stevanon partecipa annualmente ai principali mercati e appuntamenti dedicati ai professionisti dell’industria cinematografica tra i quali il Marché du Film (Cannes, Francia), European Film Market (Berlino, Germania), Mostra Internazionale d’Arte Cinematografica (Venezia, Italia), Doc Outlook – International Market (Nyon, Svizzera), Torino Short Film Market (Torino, Italia) e Marché du Film Court (Clermont-Ferrand, Francia).
Nel 2013 è tra i fondatori e primo presidente di APA Vd’A (Associazione Professionisti dell’Audiovisivo – Valle d’Aosta) nata con l’obiettivo di accrescere la visibilità del vasto ed eterogeneo mondo dell’audiovisivo in Valle d’Aosta e dare vita a una rappresentanza ufficiale di questo settore, sviluppando contestualmente attività di promozione cinematografica e di formazione. Attualmente ne è vicepresidente.
Dal 2003 al 2006 è ideatore e direttore artistico del concorso internazionale di sceneggiatura cinematografica “A corto di idee ovvero idee per un corto” e dal 2016 è membro del comitato organizzativo di Frontdoc Festival Internazionale del Cinema di Frontiere organizzato da APA Vd’A.
Si occupa inoltre di formazione professionale in ambito cinematografico collaborando con enti e associazioni e di formazione in ambito scolastico in particolare con le scuole primarie e secondarie di primo grado.
Alessandro Stevanon was born in Aosta in 1982. After finishing his studies at the Istituto di Stato per la Cinematografia “Roberto Rossellini” in Rome, from 2004 he has been working as producer, director of photography and film director in Italy and abroad.
His films have been selected and screened at more than 250 festivals across 38 countries of the world, receiving more than 50 awards and recognitions. In 2013 he produced and directed the short documentary “America”, which was selected at 84 festivals in 16 countries, among them the Clermont-Ferrand Int. Short Film Festival (as the only Italian in the International Contest), winning 23 prizes, including the prize “Michelangelo Antonioni” at the Bif&st – Bari International Film Festival. 2017 was the year of “Sagre Balere” a documentary feature that, after the world premiere at Visions du Réel – Festival International de Cinéma de Nyon, achieved 33 selections in 11 countries and 7 awards, including the prize “Italia Doc” for best Italian documentary at the 35th Bellaria Film Festival. In the same year he wrote and directed the short “The Line”, screened in 20 countries in the world and in more than 60 festivals, among which stands out the double participation in 2017 for the MigrArti award and in 2018 for the award I love GAI, at the Venice International Film Festival and at the TIFF Kids International Film Festival in Toronto. The film, currently still in distribution, has received 18 awards such as the Premio del Pubblico (Italian Film Festival USA in the United States and Planos Film Fest in Portugal), the “I have rights” award at the Rolan Int. Film Festival For Children and Youth in Armenia, and Best Screenplay at the Olympia Int. Film Festival For Children and Young People in Greece.
For the Italian television, he made documentaries for RAI, Radiotelevisione Italiana, RSI Radiotelevisione Svizzera Italiana and for Sky, as director of photography.
Often producer or co-producer of his work, Stevanon annually participates to the principal markets and meetings dedicated to professionals of the film industry, among which the Marché du Film (Cannes, France), the European Film Market (Berlin, Germany), the Venice International Film Festival (Venice, Italy), the Doc Outlook -International Market (Nyon, Switzerland), the Torino Short Film Market (Turin, Italy) and the Marché du Film Court (Clermont-Ferrand, France).
In 2013 he was among the founders and the first president of APA Vd’A (Association of Professionals of the Audiovisual -Valle D’Aosta), born with the purpose of increasing the visibility of the vast and diverse world of the audiovisual in the region of Valle D’Aosta and aiming to create an official representation of this sector, developing promotion and training activities. He is currently vice-president of the association.
From 2003 to 2006 he was the creator and the artistic director of the international screenwriting contest “A corto di idee ovvero idee per un corto” and since 2016 he has been member of the organizing committee of Frontdoc International Documentary Festival devoted to the theme of borders and organized by APA Vd’A. Moreover, he works in the area of professional film training, collaborating with institutions and association in the context of school education in particular with elementary and middle schools.
In addition to the artistic commitment, he works as elementary school teacher.
